Dewnith JayasinghaGap year student

Hi! I’m Dewnith, a gap year student and recent college/sixth form graduate, pursuing a degree in medicine. Having studied at the Portsmouth Grammar school from the ages of 11 to 18, I am conscious of the academic pressures and challenges faced by many students.
When I first started PGS, I found the transition difficult. It took me a while to adjust to the increased workload, including how much more homework we were given! With time and a consistent approach to my priorities in and out of school, I grew both academically and personally. Having been a mentor and guide to many pupils during the latter half of my time at PGS, at clinics and in the classroom, I have grown to understand many of the difficulties faced by students.
This is where tutoring can make all the difference! One-on-one tutoring offers personalised attention, which I understand through experience that, at times, is difficult to get at school. As a tutor, I like to initially take a slow approach to identify areas of weakness, and then step things up when a strong foundation is created.
In my GCSE’s, which I completed in Year 11 in 2021, I achieved the following:
Mathematics - 9
Chemistry - 9
Biology - 9
Physics - 9
English Literature - 9
English language - 9
Latin - 9
Spanish - 9
History - 9
Geography - 9
In my A-levels, which I completed in year 13 in 2024, I have achieved the following:
Chemistry - A*
Biology - A
Mathematics - A
Having obtained excellent GCSE’s (in the top 0.0007% of the 2021 student cohort) and A-levels, I believe that I am well equipped with the necessary knowledge and experience. I will be more than happy to help you overcome academic challenges and discover the most efficient ways to go about fully grasping any topic.
