Alicia Mejia Simulation: Monte Carlo and Discrete Event

Why simulation? And why should you ask me to teach you simulation? Because I have many years of practice, not only as a teacher, but also as a consultant in this field. This means you will learn not only some theoretical principles, but more importantly, how to use these techniques in your workplace.

I have always been passionate about my students and I am happy to go over a topic again when I see it is causing some problems to the student.

Most of my consulting work has been done in the health care area with very interesting results, including saving a hospital £400K on the rental of an additional equipment which we showed was not needed. I use real-life cases such as this to illustrate the different areas I'm discussing in the class.

I'm equally happy to teach on a one-to-one basis as to teach small groups. And even more, if once you have finished the course, you have any questions, you know you can always approach me and I'll be more than happy to provide any help I can.

As for the methodology I use, I prefer to give only the absolutely necessary theoretical details and concentrate more on how to use this to real life problems. One of my courses at the LSE went from 20 students when I took it, to more than 60 students, usually being oversubscribed! This tells you why the course is found interesting by students and became really popular
