For the past two and a half years have been an Instructor at a top college in Kenya teaching Business and ICT courses/units. During my teaching experience I have learnt that teaching methods will vary depending on the subject matter being discussed in a session. Also different students have needs that vary as well as their levels of understanding as such teaching strategy will vary from one student to another. However all my teaching methods are based on three basic D's of teaching i.e Discussing,Directing and Delegating. I decided to become a tutor because it is a flexible, rewarding and interesting job where I will make a positive difference by helping students prepare for exams, work together on class work they need guidance with and help them improve in a particular subject that they’re struggling in. As far as describing myself as a tutor am honest, straight forward, friendly, enthusiastic and respectful. It is easy to get respect from the students if they would feel respected first. My students say I'm tough but fun. I try to create a positive learning environment, so I can be strict about enforcing rules. I care about my students, and I want the best for them. Someone should choose me a their tutor because I will offer customized lessons personalized to each student's unique and academic needs. They will receive customized learning plans and learning strategies. As well they will receive one-on-one instruction balanced with individualized work.
