My methodology differs depending on the level and age of the student. For beginner students I'd start at the roots of Arabic pronunciation and alphabet, the "قاعدة النورانية" and then after a strong base is created, we will apply what we've learned on a few short chapters of the Qur'an to develop muscle memory and to make sure our tongues get comfortable with the short chapters. Then we will use these chapters to begin learning tajweed in theory, learning all the basic rules. Afterwards, we will increase the chapters we know and and test our new understanding of the rules. Once sufficiency is achieved, we will transition to intermediate and advanced levels of tajweed theory, Inshallah.
