Teaching the English Language is my passion; I don't consider it a job, but helping someone better themselves in English is very satisfying. I don't postpone the lesson when the time is up; we push through to achieve success.

My teaching style is more "my own style" combined with the Hybrid style. You will find many of my interests and favourite things during lesson time, and in our work, I would invite my students to tell me about theirs and incorporate them into our lessons. We are never too old to learn, so I love listening to the students talk and reason.
I also love "show and tell" and experimenting to find answers.

I think my method(s) of teaching is a mix of Blended and Flipped Classrooms, and then the cherry on top: teacher (interactive, supportive, and fun) + never boring, interesting curriculum, fun, up-to-date lessons + students (confident, who will have a voice in class, treated with respect, will end up loving the English Language).
Conversational English is very high in demand, and I enjoy this immensely.

Experience

  • Head of Aftercare Centre (Oct, 1999–Feb, 2020) at Van Riebeeck Park Primary School
    My duties included all admin and organisational as well as supervising activities. Our Aftercare had anywhere between 300 and 440 children of various nationalities and languages. We took care of all their needs during the afternoons and come holidays, we did this the whole day.

    Part of my duties included helping with homework and explaining some subjects one on one. During exams, I helped with study methods and asking them questions to see if they remembered what they studied, etc.

    I also did tutoring for some children after hours.

Fee details

    R120–180/hour (US$6.35–9.52/hour)
