Hello everyone!! My name is Luz Espinas. Friends and colleagues call me Luchie. I am from the Philippines.
I am a graduate of a 4-year course, that is, Bachelor of Science in Business Administration, major in Management. I have likewise taken 21 units of Masters in Business Administration.
I have TESOL/TEYL certificate.
Prior to online teaching, I have worked for 17 years in government. local, and multinational corporations in various capacities, i.e. administrative staff, Executive Secretary, and as a Unit Head. And for 23 years as a Senior Executive Secretary in an international organization, i.e. World Health Organization (WHO), a special agency of the United Nations.
In my line of work, proficiency in English, both spoken and written, is a MUST. I can do basic editing of reports. I can likewise help my students learn not only correct English grammar, but I can help them as well as how to write effective business correspondence.
On the personal side, I love jogging and brisk walking around our vicinity during early mornings. For sports, I prefer swimming and bowling, especially. I love listening to the music of Kenny G - a famous saxophone player. I love watching movies through Netflix, browsing the FaceBook, and keeping a tab of what's happening around the country (Philippines) and in the world via YouTube.
I love to teach English to people of different nationalities (kids and adults, especially), because I want to share with them my knowledge of the English language.
I believe that English is an important tool of communication among people of different nationalities and cultures. It is the language of computer, science, technology, medicine, diplomacy, the internet, international media, and business.
Learning good and correct English helps one to have a better chance of working in multinational or international corporations such as the World Bank, the Asian Development Bank, to name a few, and/or being able to work abroad. And, since it is the language commonly used on the internet, the English language helps us in socializing with other people, locally and internationally.
I'll help my students increase his/her English vocabulary by teaching synonyms of commonly used words, multiple meanings of some words, correct spelling, correct pronunciation, and which words are more appropriate to use or choose (depending on the situation), and I will also teach him/her some idiomatic expressions which would definitely help him/her have a better or accurate understanding of what a native English speaker is talking about.
So, if ever I were chosen by a student as his/her private tutor, I promise I would do my best to give my student a fun, interesting, and dynamic lesson.
Thank you.
