Vedansh Malhotra SAT, Math(IB/IG), CS tutor: Stanford MS CS Student
1 Review

I recently graduated summa cum laude from UC Berkeley, with majors in Computer Science and Cognitive Science, and a minor in Data Science, with a perfect 4.0 GPA. This fall, I'll head to Stanford wherein I'll get my MS in Computer Science (Artificial Intelligence Specialization.)

At Berkeley, I was the first and only undergraduate to be appointed as the sole lecturer (instructor-of-record) for UC Berkeley's intro-to-CS course (CS10, Summer 2023), which I went on to teach for 7 terms. I won Berkeley's Campuswide Outstanding Graduate Student Instructor (GSI) award in 2023 (top 10% of campus GSIs), the EECS Outstanding GSI Award in 2023 (top 1% of EECS Department), and the Mark Weiser Excellence in Computing Schoarship (awarded to 1 student in Berkeley's CS Department.) All in all, I have a solid foundation in Mathematics, Cognition, and CS and have taught over 2000 students in the past 5 years with stellar evaluations and student outcomes.

I've also served as a student-liason in the hiring committee for teaching faculty in Berkeley EECS, and have worked closely with the Undergraduate Admissions Office — I have a solid understanding of the holistic review process for undergraduate admissions and can help students craft a competitive application.

In 2020, I scored 1570/1600 on the SAT and received the 'SAT India Top Performer Award.' I also had a perfect 800 on the SAT Math Level 2 Subject Test. However, I started off with 1330/1600 and worked my way up to a 240 point improvement — I know the journey from virtually no concrete knowledge to complete proficiency well, from personal experience!

I've also helped develop curriculum for various Mathematics and Computer Science courses (I helped write problems for AP Calculus BC, for instance.) I'm familiar with the syllabus of these standardized exams, and more importantly, with the nuanced ways in which various concepts are tested- as such, I know of quick and effective strategies to deal with various question-types.

I have a strictly egalitarian perspective on learning: ANYONE can learn ANYTHING given sufficient time and interest. But learning is a workout for your brain — progress is made when you push out of your comfort zone, and I'm here to give you the supplementation necessary to achieve success!

Feel free to reach out to me with your specific needs/ questions :-)

Vedansh is a genuinely amazing teacher. I could not recommend him more highly.

Vedansh is a genuinely amazing teacher. He's passionate, cares and above all, is committed to making sure his students do well. He tailored every lesson we had to my needs perfectly. He explained everything really clearly and concisely and was always so prepared for our lessons. He also got an immediate grasp of my ability and what I needed help with and supported me throughout the process spectacularly. Even outside of lessons, he'd always help me whenever I needed anything and was super helpful. Our lessons specifically focussed on SAT support but he was always available and keen to help me with any of my schoolwork and anything else I brought up with him. I could not recommend him more highly.
