I have been in the field of education for more a decade. I am very interactive educator and teacher, ranging from fields of Physics to Geology, including Environmental Science and Earth Science. I am a good speaker with a very comfortable public speaking style that maintains clarity and clear organization. I am easily approachable and teach with a lot of enthusiasm that draws in the audience. My general teaching type does not include reading material off the slide and giving blind assignments. In class, I learned that providing an hour-long slideshow without any interaction or videos usually bores everyone. I personally call out their names during discussions because it helps them to connect better with me as I take an effort to know who they are. I noticed that this helps with a small group of students because it brings them out of their shell. I usually show recent articles and videos that are related to present day issues, to discuss in class. While working on assignments, I check their work and direct them in the right direction. I quiz the concepts before I give the right answer and also provide quizzes and finals where I encourage the use of basic mathematical skills and prohibit the use of calculators. I have noticed that, with the new era of complicated calculator, students tend to rely too much on technology to do basic calculations. I think that this basic method really helps them work through calculations and analyze the results much more; for example, the magnitude of difference between answers or conversion from km to m. Grades are very important but I believe the science and its application is more crucial in the big picture.

I am pretty flexible with my teaching style and material covered in class. If some topics take longer on specific days, I am comfortable with that speed and make up for it in the future classes. I like to know the background of my students and their strength and weaknesses and cater my classes based on that.
