1st Al-'Alaq (The Clot) 96

We have sent a messenger to you as a witness upon you [Muhammad] just as We sent a messenger to Pharaoh, but Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.

The people of Noah denied before them, and the companions of the well and Thamud and 'Aad and Pharaoh and the brothers of Lot and the companions of the thicket and the people of Tubba'. All denied the messengers, so My threat came true.
34th Qaf (The Letter "Qaf") 50
35th Al-Balad (The City) 90
36th At-Tariq (The Nightcommer) 86

Then are your disbelievers better than those former ones, or do you have immunity in the Scriptures? Their assembly will be defeated, and they will turn their backs in retreat.
37th Al-Qamar (The Moon) 54

So they say, "Our Lord, hasten our share of the punishment for us before the Day of Account." So be patient over what they say.
38th Sad (The Letter "Saad") 38

Because there is a specified term for every nation. So when their time has come, they will not postpone it an hour, nor will they advance it. Then do they not give thought? Muhammad is nothing but a clear warner. Then do they not think that perhaps their appointed time has come near?
39th Al-A'raf (The Heights) 7
40th Al-Jinn (The Jinn) 72
41st Ya-Sin (The Letters "Ya, Sin") 36

But those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?" Thus it is so that We may strengthen your heart thereby. And We have spaced it distinctly.

For this is a Book which We have sent down so that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Mecca] and those around it.
55th Al-An'am (The Cattle) 6

And Our word has already preceded for Our servants, the messengers, that indeed, they would be those given victory and that indeed, Our soldiers will be those who overcome. So, turn away from them for a time. And see what will befall them, for soon they are going to see. Then are they impatient for Our punishment? But when it descends in their territory, then the dawn of those who were warned will [indeed] be evil.

87th Al-Baqarah (The Cow) 2

So fight them until there is no oppression and until the religion, all of it, is for God - if you have believed in God and in that which We sent down to Our servant on the day of criterion - the day when the two armies met.
88th Al-Anfal (The Spoils of War) 8

Mecca is like the custom of the people of Pharaoh and those before them. They denied Our signs, so God seized them for their sins.
89th Ali 'Imran (Family of Imran) 3

He caused you to inherit their land and their homes and their properties and a land which you have not trodden.

109th As-Saf (The Ranks) 61
110th Al-Jumu'ah (The Congregation, Friday) 62

We have given you a clear conquest, and He promises other victories that you were so far unable to realize which God has already encompassed. And it is He who withheld their hands from you and your hands from them within Mecca after He caused you to overcome them.
111th Al-Fath (The Victory) 48

This day, those who disbelieve have despaired of defeating your religion; so do not fear them, but fear Me. This day, I have perfected your religion for you and have approved submission to God for you as religion.
112th Al-Ma'idah (The Table Spread) 5

But whenever a surah is sent down, there are those among the hypocrites who say, "Which of you has this increased faith?" As for those who believed, it has increased them in faith. But as for those who had disease in their hearts, it has only increased them in evil in addition to their evil. Do they not see that they are tried once or twice every year but then they do not repent nor do they remember? And whenever a surah is sent down, they turn away. God has turned their hearts away because they are a people who do not understand. For a messenger has certainly come to you from among yourselves.
113th At-Tawbah (The Repentance) 9

When the help of God has come and the conquest, and you see the people entering into the religion of God in multitudes, then exalt God.
114th An-Nasr (The Divine Support) 110

Back to the Beginning
God Sent the Qur'an Down Progressively so that Muhammad might Recite it to the People of Mecca over a Prolonged Period
For Muhammad is Nothing but a Clear Warner
17:106 - 108, Qur'an
[This is] a Qur'an which We have separated [by intervals] so that you might recite it to the people [of Mecca] over a prolonged period. And We have sent it down progressively. Say, "Believe in it or do not believe. Indeed, those who were given knowledge before it - when it is recited to them, they fall upon their faces in prostration, and they say, "Our Lord is Exalted! Indeed, the promise of our Lord has been fulfilled -"

Isaiah 28:10, Torah
For precept [must be] upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, [and] there a little.

25:32, Qur'an
[But] those who disbelieve say, "Why was the Qur'an not sent down to him all at once?" Thus it is so that We may strengthen your heart thereby. And We have spaced it distinctly -

9:126 - 127, Qur'an
Do they not see that they are tried once or twice every year but then they do not repent nor do they remember? And whenever a surah is sent down, they look at each other, [saying], "Does anyone see you?" and then they turn away. God has turned their hearts away because they are a people who do not understand -

Isaiah 28:13, Torah
[For] the word of the Lord was to them precept upon precept, precept upon precept; line upon line, line upon line; here a little, and there a little; that they might go, and fall backward, and be broken and snared and taken.

68:44 - 45, Qur'an
So leave Me with whoever denies this [Qur'an]. We will progressively lead them [to punishment] from where they do not know. And I will give them time. Indeed, My plan is firm -

76:23, Qur'an
[For] indeed, it is We who have sent the Qur'an down to you progressively -

36:6 - 7, Qur'an
So that you may warn a people whose forefathers were not warned, so they are unaware. The word has already come true upon most of them, so they do not believe.

7:184, Qur'an
Then do they not give thought? There is no [devil of] jinn in their companion. He is nothing but a clear warner.

We did Not Destroy Any City Except that it had Warners as a Reminder, and Indeed, Muhammad is a Warner Like the Former Warners
For We had Certainly Sent Noah to his People, Saying, "I Fear the Punishment for you on a Painful Day"
28:59, Qur'an
Your Lord would have never destroyed the cities until He had sent to their mother [city] a messenger reciting Our verses to them. And We would not destroy the cities except while their people were wrongdoers.

6:131, Qur'an
That is because your Lord would not destroy the cities for wrongdoing while their people were unaware.

26:208 - 209, Qur'an
And [so] We did not destroy any city except that it had warners as a reminder and We have never been unjust -

11:25 - 26, Qur'an
[For] We had certainly sent Noah to his people, [saying], "Indeed, I am a clear warner to you, that you do not serve [anything] except God. Indeed, I fear the punishment for you on a painful day."

46:21, Qur'an
And remember the brother of 'Aad, when he warned his people in the [region of] al-Ahqaf - and warners had already passed on before him and after him - [saying], "Do not serve [anything] except God. Indeed, I fear the punishment for you on a terrible day."

53:56, Qur'an
[And] this [prophet Muhammad] is a warner like the former warners -

73:15 - 16, Qur'an
[For] We have sent a messenger [Muhammad] to you as a witness upon you just as We sent a messenger [Moses] to Pharaoh. But Pharaoh disobeyed the messenger, so We seized him with a ruinous seizure.

46:9, Qur'an
[So] say [O Muhammad], "I am not something original among the messengers, nor do I know what will be done with me or with you. I only follow that which is revealed to me, and I am nothing but a clear warner."

42:7, Qur'an
And thus We have revealed an Arabic Qur'an to you [O Muhammad] so that you may warn the Mother of Cities [Mecca] and those around it and warn of the Day of Assembly, about which there is no doubt. A group will be in the Garden and a group in the Blaze.

35:24, Qur'an
[So] indeed, We have sent you with the truth as a warner and a bringer of good news. And there was no nation except that a warner had passed within it.

Jeremiah 7:25, Torah
"[For] since the day that your fathers came forth out of the land of Egypt to this day I have even sent to you all My servants the prophets, rising up early and sending [them] daily.

Jeremiah 25:5 - 6, Torah
They said, 'Turn again now, everyone from his evil way, and from the evil of your doings, and dwell in the land that the Lord has given to you and your fathers forever and ever. And do not go after other gods to serve them, and to prostrate to them, and provoke Me not to anger with the works of your hands; and I will do you no hurt.

Jeremiah 44:5 - 6, Torah
But they did not listen, nor incline their ear to turn from their wickedness, to not burn incense to other gods. Therefore My fury and My anger were poured forth, and were kindled in the cities of Judah and in the streets of Jerusalem; and they are wasted [and] desolate, as at this day."

35:25 - 26, Qur'an
And [thus] if they deny you - then those before them have already denied. Their messengers came to them with clear proofs and written ordinances and with the enlightening Scripture. Then I seized the ones who disbelieved, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

25:37 - 39, Qur'an
[For] the people of Noah - when they denied the messengers, We drowned them, and We made them a sign for mankind. And We have prepared a painful punishment for the wrongdoers. And [We destroyed] 'Aad and Thamud and the companions of the well and many generations between them. And We set forth examples [as warnings] for each, and We destroyed each with [total] destruction.

34:45, Qur'an
[Thus] those before them denied, and the people [of Mecca] have not attained a tenth of what We had given them. But [the former peoples] denied My messengers, so how [terrible] was My reproach.

10:102, Qur'an
So do they wait for [nothing] except like [what occurred in] the days of those who passed on before them? Say, "Then wait; indeed, I am with you among those who wait."

We have Certainly Given you Seven of the Often Repeated Narrations and the Great Qur'an
We Sent Our Messengers - Noah, Hud, Salih, Abraham, Lot, Shu'ayb, and Moses - then Made them Narrations
23:44, Qur'an
We sent Our messengers in succession. Every time a messenger came to his nation, they denied him, so We made them follow one another [to destruction], and We made them narrations. So away with a people who do not believe.

15:84 - 87, Qur'an
So nothing availed them [from] what they used to earn. And We have not created the heavens and earth and that between them except in truth. And indeed, the Hour is coming; so forgive with gracious forgiveness. Indeed, your Lord - He is the Knowing Creator. And We have certainly given you seven of the often repeated [narrations] and the great Qur'an.

22:42 - 44, Qur'an
[But] if they deny you [O Muhammad], - so did the people of Noah [1] and 'Aad [2] and Thamud [3] deny [their prophets] before them, and the people of Abraham [4] and the people of Lot [5] and the companions of Midian [6]. And Moses [7] was denied, so I prolonged enjoyment for the disbelievers; then I seized them, and how [terrible] was My reproach.

26:103 - 106, Qur'an
[So] indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. The people of Noah [1] denied the messengers, when their brother Noah said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:121 - 124, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. 'Aad [2] denied the messengers, when their brother Hud said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:139 - 142, Qur'an
[But] they denied him, so We destroyed them. Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. Thamud [3] denied the messengers, when their brother Salih said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:67 - 70, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. And recite to them the news of Abraham [4], when he said to his father and his people, "What do you serve?"

26:158 - 161, Qur'an
[But they denied him, so] the punishment seized them. Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. The people of Lot [5] denied the messengers, when their brother Lot said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:174 - 177, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. The companions of the thicket [6] denied the messengers, when Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear [God]?"

26:8 - 11, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful. And when your Lord called Moses [7], [saying], "Go to the wrongdoing people - the people of Pharaoh. Will they not fear [God]?"

26:190 - 191, Qur'an
Indeed there is a sign in that, but most of them are not believers. And indeed, your Lord - He is the Almighty, the Merciful.

39:23, Qur'an
[Thus,] God has sent down the best narration: a consistent Book and often repeated. The skins of those who fear their Lord shiver therefrom; then their skins and their hearts relax at the remembrance of God. That is the guidance of God by which He guides whom He wills. And one whom God leaves astray - there is no guide for him -

12:111, Qur'an
[For] there was certainly a lesson in their stories for those of understanding. The Qur'an was never an invented narration, but a guidance and mercy for a people who believe and a confirmation of what was before it and a detailed explanation of all things.

11:120, Qur'an
[So] each story We relate to you from the news of the messengers is that by which We make your heart firm. And the truth and an instruction and a reminder for the believers have come to you in this -

60:6, Qur'an
[Whereby] there has certainly been an excellent pattern for you in [Abraham and those with him] for anyone whose hope is in God and the Last Day. And whoever turns away - then indeed, God is the Free of need, the Praiseworthy.
