A few words about me --

BASIC TRAINING : My journey with music began with my father Shri Dwijendra Nath Bera (a student of Sangeetacharya Surendranath Bandyopadhyay, one of the stalwarts of Bishnupur Gharana ) from whom I took my initial vocal training in Indian Classical music, till the age of 10.

ADVANCED TRAINING : For the past 27 years I have been training under Pdt. Santanu Bandyopadhyay of ‘Bishnupur Gharana’ in ‘Indian Classical Vocal’ music.  I have also had the privilege of receiving vocal training from Sangeetacharya Amiya Ranjan Bandyopadhyay for a short period of time, which has only enriched my singing and made me into a better vocalist.

I am also an equipped ‘Harmonium’ Player. I have received training in Harmonium playing from my father, from the age of five. I have accompanied my Gurus in Harmonium at various prestegious programmes.

MUSICAL PHILOSOPHY : To me, Indian Classical music is all about imagination Raagdari is generally expressed through Bistaar using Pakads, Meends and Alankaras. I concentrate more in bringing out the philosophy and essence of the Raaga in a way that the audience can connect to it.

ACHIEVEMENTS : Received FIRST rank in the prestigious ‘All India Radio Competition’, preliminary stage from ‘Kolkata Zone’ in the year 2010, qualifying for the finals in Delhi.
I have been regularly performing in All India Radio, Kolkata sinnce last few years.

EXPERIENCE : I have been teaching Indian Classical Vocal Music (mainly Khayal) and Harmonium for over ten years at my Institute named ‘Sangeet Bhaban’ in Kolkata and Howrah and other Institues like ‘Parampara Bishnupur’, ‘Rabindra Tirtha Kala Kendra’ etc. I am also a Stage and Sound Groomer.

Many of my students are performing Hindustani Classical and also music of other genres after learning from me for a period of around 10 years.

    The Institute 'Sangeet Bhaban' was set up by me in 2006 in Kolkata and Howrah. I teach Indian Classical Vocal, Harmonium and stage and sound grooming. I have been performing and teaching for the past 17 years, many of my students are also performing professionally.

Fee details

    ₹2,500–10,000/month (US$29.61–118.43/month)

    Group Classes fee : Rs. 1000 to Rs. 2500 per month
    (depending on the level of the student - Beginner/ Intermediate/ Advanced)

    Individual Classes fee : Depends on the Level (Beginner/ Intermediate/ Advanced) and Location of the student. It may vary between Rs. 2500 to Rs. 10000 per month, based on the place he/she is from.
