My interest in teaching was initially shaped by my parents who were passionate teachers. The subsequent four-year Bachelor of Education degree (Economics and Business Studies helped to enhance my enthusiasm and prepared me pedagogically to take teaching job. Over the years I have loved teaching as a calling guided by my philosophy of valuing each learner as an individual. I accord my learners numerous learning experiences as possible in order to engage, motivate and prepare them for future life. For me anything that is worth doing is worth doing well. I love my job and I do it with great passion

I treat learners as my colleagues in the learning process. This ensures that they play a critical role in the entire process. Peer learning and assessment are invaluable 21st century tools that I comfortably use in my classes. To me effective learning is experiential. I endeavour to create learning experiences that link with my learner’s previous experiences

Learner progress is critical to me. I create time outside the time tabled session to help learners who through my observation need remedial attention. As I probe learner progress I focus on bloom’s taxonomy in order to graduate learner knowledge and skills. My teaching is largely influenced by the constructivist approach which allows learners to utilize their experiences to construct knowledge and enhance learning. Learning should be interesting and creative, this I have achieved through role-playing, video clips and effective utilization of cases (vignettes) in my classes. I am reasonably versatile having dealt with learners at different levels and teaching different programmes. I have taught multi racial, varied nationalities, multi religious and multi ethnic learners which has enriched my teaching experience

I have been able to improve learner assessment skills through training as an examiner with the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC). I have also taught in the IGCSE system, International Foundation Year (IFY) at the Brookhouse International School. Having taught Economics and Business related subjects at Diploma and Degree level has enhanced my in-depth understanding of the subject content in these areas. I have guided learners in projects at Diploma and Degree levels.
