I believe that the process of education involves a reciprocal relationship between the educator and learner. As much as a learner is accountable to an educator, the educator is equally or in most cases, more accountable to the learner. I have a deep seated passion for education and instilling in my learners the concept of being a lifelong learner, as the process of education does not stop at graduation, but should be extended in our daily living. As educators we need to create a thirst for knowledge. This also holds true in my thirst for knowledge, as I embark on yet another exciting educational journey with my Doctorate in Business Administration. We need to set the example that would be passed on to our learners. Our learners need not just academic development, but emotional, social, physical and cognitive development, which is age and culture appropriate. Hence a holistic development in a safe, stable and happy environment is what I prescribe to as an educator. It is my responsibility to provide my learners with the following:
● An environment that is conducive to teaching and learning.
● Information that would assist them in being successful in achieving their goals in life.
● Motivation and feedback that would help them learn as well as meet challenges and problem solve in their daily lives. I
● Differentiated learning styles, as I believe that our learners have varied capabilities that need to be identified and enhanced.
● Assist them in being tolerant and responsible learners who will effectively development into responsible “Global” citizens.
“Education is not the filling of a pail, but the lighting of a fire.” -William Butler Yeats The opportunity to ignite a spark in learners, fuels my passion for teaching and learning.
