I'm seeking a highly qualified individual to assist with a research project on deploying and orchestrating computing tasks and setting up an IoT data pipeline within a simulated environment for UAV (drone) Search and Rescue (SAR) operations. The ideal candidate will possess both practical skills and research experience in cloud-edge computing, IoT, containerization, and UAV simulations. This project will be done in simulation only, so a strong grasp of virtual tools and environments is essential. Also, This project will involve both the technical development of a simulated cloud-edge computing environment and the preparation of a structured literature review and thesis proposal following academic guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
• Design and implement a simulated cloud-edge computing framework for UAV SAR operations, with a focus on data flow and task orchestration.
• Develop and simulate an IoT data pipeline that gathers, processes, and manages data between drones (edge) and the cloud.
• Containerize tasks using Docker and orchestrate them with lightweight Kubernetes (K3S) within the simulated environment.
• Assist with research writing, including a structured literature review and thesis proposal, adhering to specified academic standards.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
• Simulation Tools: Experience with UAV simulators such as Gazebo, AirSim, or PX4 SITL.
• Data Pipeline and IoT Protocols: Proficiency in MQTT, Apache Kafka, or similar technologies for IoT data transmission.
• Cloud-Edge Computing: Strong knowledge of cloud-edge architecture and data management.
• Containerization and Orchestration: Skilled in Docker and Kubernetes (preferably K3S for lightweight deployments).
• Data Processing and Analytics: Familiarity with real-time data processing tools like Apache Spark or Flink.
• Monitoring and Visualization: Experience with Prometheus and Grafana for system monitoring and data visualization.
• Research Writing and Documentation: Ability to structure a literature review and thesis proposal according to academic standards, with sections such as background, current research trends, methodology, expected outcomes, and references.
