Looking for an Experienced Software Developer Instructor (June-August 2025)
I am seeking an experienced software instructor to provide a software development course for my 15-year-old daughter during June-August 2025 (Mon-Friday, 8:30-4:00pm commitment). Ideally, I would prefer a female instructor with a strong command of the English language. That said, I'm open to having male instructor, but will parental supervision occasionally pop into the program.
The goal of the course is to equip my daughter with the foundational skills necessary to confidently explore software development on her own. This includes:
- Familiarity with open-source platforms and how to contribute to them
- Understanding and using essential developer tools such as GitHub, Git, and Visual Studio Code
- Gaining the ability to read, comprehend, and write code independently
- Exposure to Agile and version control practices
- Basics of front-end and back-end web development (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, Python)
- Familiarity with basic frameworks and libraries (e.g., React, Node.js)
- Understanding of debugging, testing, and deployment processes
- Introduction to cloud platforms like AWS or Heroku
Evidence of the proficiency - undertake these projects:
1. Rock, Paper, Scissors Game - A simple game where the user plays against the computer. Skills: Basic JavaScript logic, randomization, condition checking, event handling.
2. To-Do List Application - Allows users to add, delete, and edit tasks. Skills: JavaScript, local Storage, DOM manipulation, basic CRUD operations.
3.Personal Portfolio Website - A personal site to showcase projects, skills, and resume. Skills: HTML, CSS, basic JavaScript for interactivity, GitHub Pages for hosting.
Ultimately, the aim is for her to acquire the core building blocks to become a self-sufficient learner in software development, able to troubleshoot, research, and continue learning on her own. If you have relevant experience and a passion for teaching, I’d love to hear from you.
Other matters: My daughter has strong foundational skills from her Computer Science program in school, so she is familiar with software concepts and some coding skills. Just lacks practical component. Tell me your expected rate as rate I included in the form is for placement purpose - just to complete the form.
