My mom recently started an online business flipping cupboards. She gets them on FB marketplace, fixes them, refurbishes and paints them and turns them into these Indian prayer mundirs.
It is my view that her business would flourish with a strong content cycle on Instagram, Etsy, and Facebook.
Content like this that exemplifies the “flipping process” or the “creative process”
My Mom however is an absolute beginner when it comes to both computers, footage recording, and video editing.
The skills she needs are
Basic internet navigation (creating accounts on social media, downloading social media)
Recording footage (She has access to an Iphone and a Lumix G7, but I don’t think she’s familiar with B roll, camera angles and the like)
Uploading footage onto computer ( I don’t think she’s done this before)
Editing on video editing platforms ( I think she should first start with capcut, then move on to I-Movie, then finally Adobe Premier) baby steps need to be taken step by step. Screen sharing and what not
Voiceover
Clipping footage
Cool visual effects
Uploading footage to youtube, Instagram, TikTok etc.
I would prefer a tutor who is very very patient, knows how to help an older Indian person, and speakers her native tongue( Tamil). Someone a bit more fun and not as serious about things is likely to resonate with her. Remember, baby steps are probably what’s necessary for her.
