FYI: Grassroots organizing represents the richest example of NPO advocacy and

lobbying because it engages the people being affected by an issue to organize

themselves to bring about the desired change. According to Marcia Avner "grassroots

community-based organizing is the process through which people plan and build shared

efforts to work for the changes that they want on their issues." (pg. 418) While

grassroots organizations generally focus on helpful organizing demonstrated by "Black

Lives Matter" it can also include hateful organizing demonstrated by the Klu Klux Klan.

Essay: The essay should be written based/focused on these three statements:

1) Identify a local, national, or international grassroots organization.

2) Explain an area in which they won a battle against a government or business entity.

3) And describe how the organization used "good organizing" explained on page 419.

The essay must have a Chicago/Turbian title page (the title page is not your first page,

therefore do not number it page 1).
