This project report discusses the mathematical modelling of mechanical system consisting of masses and springs. The process flow goes such as the free body diagram of the masses, equations of motions, their Laplace transformation, finding Transfer functions, then analysing the system response using MATLAB. The main objective of this project is to design a controller K such that the percentage overshoot of the system response is less than 10% for unity reference input and unity feedback system. Another objective of this project is to analyse the root locus of the system while changing the gain value of the controller.
